| GameCrush -- where you pay to play video games with hot girls -- opens its doors Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:30 PM PDT Just like prostitution, some of the girls are cuter than others -- and some are better at what they do, too -- but they're all available as potential PlayDates (seriously). All you have to do is whip out your credit card (it's $0.60 per minute), grab your joystick and game. Every girl has a camera, and I'm told by an inside source that many of the girls are quite, er, accommodating. Understandable, considering a good girl can earn more than $20 per hour if she behaves well. According to the press release, any game works with their system -- but in fact there are only specific games at launch that will be playable with a companion. If you prefer one-handed, left-hand-stretched-over-to-the-mouse gaming, there's also a bunch of casual, browser-based games that you can play with your PlayDate. Finally, in case you were wondering (because I know I was) guys can also sign up. I've already done so! Girls can pay to play with me. What an awesome world we live in, gentlemen. | Father of Java, James Gosling Unloads Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT javab0y writes "The folks over at basementcoders did a podcast with James Gosling, The Father of Java, last week at a coffee shop in San Francisco during the JavaOne conference. In a raw and no-holds-barred interview, James let loose on Oracle, the Google Lawsuit, and his experience with IBM. You know its going to be good when he starts out saying, 'I eventually graduated in '83. Went to work for IBM which is, you know, is within the top 10 of my stupidest career decisions I've made.' The podcast was fully transcribed." Read more of this story at Slashdot. |

They've got to be heavy, and I can't imagine how they might ride, but there's no denying the post-apocalyptic awesomeness of sporting a bike you welded up yourself from a pile of rebar. Up top is a shot from the consistently-amusing-but-occassionally-offensive There, I Fixed It, that got me Googling around for more....
And this one is by Tempe, AZ, resident Matt Krise.
Finally, this cobbled-together frame is attributed to "the hermit who lives at the end of the Albany Bulb." Did I miss a good one? Let me know in the comments! More:

| UFOs Neutered Nukes, Officers Claim [Aliens] Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT A group of retired Air Force officers say they've encountered UFOs, and surmise that the space creatures are trying to tell an obstinate human race to abandon its nuclear weapons. That's right: Earth is being monitored by intergalactic hippies. More » |
| Use Tall Narrow Glasses To Cut Down On Drinking [Food Hacks] Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT Whether it's alcohol or soft drink, drinking too much of anything other than water can play havoc with your weight. Trick yourself into drinking less by using taller, narrower glasses. More » |
| Mozilla bringing Firefox Home to BlackBerry, Symbian, and Facebook and Twitter access Posted: 28 Sep 2010 02:50 PM PDT Filed under: Utilities, iPhone, Mobile Mozilla has just pushed out an epic blog post that details the future of Firefox Home, mainly stating that it's heading to both the BlackBerry and Symbian mobile phone platforms in the coming months. If you've not heard of Firefox Home, watch the video after the break for a short intro.Other than two new platforms, the blog post mentions that Facebook and Twitter integration, Panorama settings, tab group sync and password sync are all on the cards for future versions of Firefox Home. A bunch of other features are also mooted, though at this point it's not clear whether any or all of them will make an appearance in Home's immediate future. There's also talk of an iPad version! This is very much a call for more feedback; Mozilla is feeling its way here and desperately wants to provide a Firefox-like experience for those poor souls without a real Firefox browser. With their creative minds hard at work, and with plenty of support from us, the community, it definitely sounds like Firefox Home has an exciting future ahead of it. | Operation Cyber Storm III underway, makes digital certificates cool again Posted: 28 Sep 2010 02:47 PM PDT Fans of cyberwarfare (which we are, if only because we like to imagine that it looks like Battlezone) take note: following hot on the heels previous Cyber Storm I and II and Cyber ShockWave wargames, the Department of Homeland Security is sponsoring a little something called Cyber Storm III. Starting yesterday, the three-day exercise simulates more than 1,500 different types of attack, with a special emphasis on identities, trust relationships, and digital certificates. As Brett Lambo, director of Homeland Security's Cyber Exercise Program, told AFP, "we're kind of using the Internet to attack itself. At a certain point the operation of the Internet is reliant on trust -- knowing where you're going is where you're supposed to be." The exercise will test the National Cyber Incident Response Plan as well as the new National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center. But you can breathe easily: the operation is focusing on defense, not offense (for now).
