3.5% Raise During Contract Term for These Federal Employees
The Postal Service reported a loss of $451 million in January and cut work hours by 3.3%. The agency also lost $8.5 billion in FY 2010. A tentative agreement between the Postal Service and the American Postal Workers Union would provide employees with a 3.5 percent pay increase over the life of the contract, starting with a 1 percent raise in November 2012.

No Gambling as Bail Condition
A federal magistrate judge has banned a civilian employee of the Navy accused in a million-dollar kickback scheme from gambling as a condition of his bail. The action comes after prosecutors found that, since his arrest in January, the employee has won more than $100,000 playing slot machines at a casino.
