MacBook Air display issues fixed by Apple via EFI update

Apple has issued a software update that targets the EFI on the new MacBook Air laptops to fix some issues that it has never publicly acknowledged, but which have been widely reported. The problem caused MacBook Air notebooks to boot or resume from sleep into a black screen or become unresponsive.

There have also been reports of horizontal lines sometimes appearing on the display or the display becoming discolored when waking. These issues have only been seen on late-2010 MacBook Air laptops, and therefore the fix is only meant for them. Both the 11-inch and the 13-inch models are affected and should be updated.
